About INTERAC® Direct Payment
INTERAC® Direct Payment lets you pay for your purchases without carrying cash - all you need is your CIBC Convenience Card. Your money stays in your account until the moment you make a purchase. Just look for the INTERAC Direct Payment sign. Most stores and businesses now accept it as a form of payment.
Your CIBC Convenience Card is your key to INTERAC Direct Payment
INTERAC Direct Payment works just like a bank machine. You use the same CIBC Convenience Card and secret password.
- There's no need to carry large amounts of cash
- You can make fewer trips to the bank or bank machine
- You'll spend less time writing cheques
- Just keep the receipt for your records
- The payment will also show up on your monthly statement
How it works:
- The cashier swipes your CIBC Convenience Card through a terminal and hands it back to you.
- The cashier hands you a keypad, which only you can read. You verify the amount of the purchase and select an account from which to pay.
- Key in your bank machine password and wait for the transaction to be approved.
- That's it! The cashier gives you your sales receipt and a transaction record, which you can check against your bankbook or monthly statement
