2004 Award Recipients & Nominees

CIBC Commercial Banking is proud to partner with the recipients and nominees of the 2004 CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award program:

$20,000 Recipient - Island Farms Dairies Co-operative Association for their Milk For Kids program

Island Farms Dairy, a 100% British Columbia owned and operated dairy cooperative, received the first-prize CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award recognizing their community spirit and corporate giving programs, most notably through their Milk for Kids program. Island Farms is very proud of its B.C. heritage and is a proud sponsor of literally hundreds of events across the province - especially those addressing health, fitness and family well-being. In 1999, Island Farms established the Milk For Kids program, a partnership with local food banks to provide a monthly supply of fresh milk for distribution to families in need. Island Farms' dedication to the program continues to grow every year, as does their corporate pride.

CIBC Commercial Banking is proud to partner with Island Farms and, as part of the CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award, has donated $20,000 to the Milk for Kids program in recognition and in support of Island Farms' outstanding accomplishments. $10,000 Recipient - M&M Meat Shops for their Charity BBQ Day

M&M Meat Shops Ltd., the largest specialty frozen food franchise retailer in Canada, received the $10,000 CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award recognizing their community spirit and corporate giving programs, most notably through their Charity BBQ Day supporting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC). All 394 franchises across the country participate in fundraising throughout the year with the culmination of their efforts being Charity BBQ day, the 2nd Saturday of May. Over their 16-year commitment to CCFC, M&M Meat Shops has successfully rallied franchisees to help raise over $9 million.

$5,000 Recipient - AWARD / TIM-BR Mart Atlantic for their timbrkids Children's Foundation Inc.

AWARD / TIM-BR Mart Atlantic, a non-profit buying cooperative serving independent building supply dealers in Atlantic Canada under the TIM-BR Mart trademark, received a $5,000 CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award recognizing their community spirit and corporate giving programs, most notably through their timbrkids Children's Foundation Inc. Over the past 10 years, AWARD has been raising funds for registered children's charities through a variety of employee initiatives from car washes and community BBQs to direct donations in retail stores. $5,000 Recipient - Minto Developments for their Minto Foundation

Minto Developments, a privately owned integrated real estate development, construction and management company with operations in Ottawa, Toronto and South Florida received a $5,000 CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award recognizing their employee-driven corporate giving strategy, support of volunteerism and generous donations through the Minto Foundation. Minto is committed to building communities and supporting their employees, business partners and customers, proving themselves a remarkable corporate citizen. $5,000 Recipient - The Printing House for their TPH Charitable Office

The Printing House Limited, a recognized leader in the printing industry with over 60 company-owned locations across Canada, received a $5,000 CIBC "Spirit of Leadership" Community Award recognizing their community spirit and corporate giving programs through their TPH Charitable Office. Their philanthropic mandate focuses on healthcare and education, especially for women and children across Canada. By leveraging their physical locations, services, time and skills, TPH Charitable Office has established an integrated corporate giving model.
