The Centre Leonardo da Vinci is a multi-purpose community centre in Montreal that offers a range of sports, cultural, recreational and religious programs for people of all ages.
YWCA Crabtree Corner and YMCA Surrey Centre, British Columbia
CIBC contributed to 2 campaigns to construct new facilities to serve the residents of Surrey, BC and Vancouver's Downtown East Side. Both the YMCA and YWCA have had a long history of providing much-needed and essential services to those most in need in our communities.
Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank, Manitoba
The Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank has been providing surplus food to individuals and families since 1985. As a provincial distribution centre, Winnipeg Harvest allocates food through a network of 230 urban agencies and 30 rural communities. More than 17,000 households in Manitoba use food banks regularly.
Nova Scotia Libraries Summer Reading Program, Nova Scotia
CIBC's donation to the Nova Scotia Libraries Summer Reading Program is helping to encourage the province's children and young people to read during the summer months. The program offers a variety of special learning activities and has attracted approximately 13,500 youth participants.
Good Shepherd Centre, Ontario
CIBC has been a supporter of the Good Shepherd Centres, which provide many services to the community. These include soup kitchens, hostels, housing for battered women and children, shelters for homeless young people, homes for the dying, and Christmas programs.
United Way
While CIBC provides more than $2.4 million in corporate donations to United Way agencies across the country, our employees contribute even more through their fundraising efforts and their personal payroll deductions. In 2002, CIBC's national total amounted to $6.4 million, with the employee participation and impact occurring at the grassroots level.
