Employees in the community

CIBC employees are committed to the communities where they work and live. Year after year, employees and retirees demonstrate their volunteer spirit by devoting their time, skills and energy to a wide variety of charitable and not-for-profit organizations in their communities through the Employees as Ambassador program. In 2008, nearly 1,000 employees participated in this program, with CIBC making contributions totaling $668,000 to community groups where our employees and retirees volunteer.

DID YOU KNOW… the annual CIBC United Way Hockey Tournament organized by CIBC employees has raised $300,000 over the past five years for the United Way of Toronto.

United Way is one of our most significant community programs. Each fall during our campaign, employees and retirees demonstrate their overwhelming support for local United Way agencies through fundraising efforts and personal donations. In 2008, CIBC and more than 8,500 employees and retirees from across the country contributed $7 million to 119 local United Ways, which included a $2.9 million corporate donation.
