Browser Security

Security starts with your Web browser. When you access Online Banking, your browser is checked by CIBC to ensure that it meets our minimum requirements. You can protect yourself online by using an up-to-date browser with the most recent security updates.

To ensure the security of CIBC Online Banking, CIBC supports the following browsers that use 128-bit encryption. Select one of the links below if you need to update your browser:

Microsoft Windows XP and 2000:

  Firefox 1.0 and later
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and later
  Netscape Navigator 7.2

Apple MacOS 10.2 and later:

  Apple Safari 2.0 and later
  Firefox 1.0 and later

CIBC Investor's Edge and CIBC Wood Gundy

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and later, with 128-bit encryption
  • Netscape Navigator 7.1, with 128-bit encryption

Please note: Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 98. Because Microsoft no longer provides security updates, CIBC no longer support browsers used in combination with the Windows 98 operating system. If you are still using Windows 98, CIBC strongly recommends that you upgrade your operating system.
