Letter of Credit Applications

CIBC's Letter of Credit applications are user-friendly, fast and simple to complete.

Instructions for an Irrevocable Documentary Letter of Credit (Import Letter of Credit):

1. Select the "Apply for Irrevocable Documentary Letter of Credit" link below
2. Print the instructions for your reference
3. Select the "Proceed to Terms and Conditions" link
4. Thoroughly read the terms and conditions – you may wish to print the page for your reference
5. Select "I Accept" to proceed to the application form
6. Complete the application form by checking the appropriate boxes and inputting all required information
7. Print and sign the application form
8. Submit the completed and signed application form to your Relationship Manager for approval and processing

Please note:
It takes a minimum of 2-3 days to set up a new customer in our database prior to issuing a Letter of Credit for the first time. If you would like us to issue a Letter of Credit for the first time, we recommend that you contact your Relationship Manager immediately to reduce or avoid any delays.

3. Print and sign the application form
4. Submit the completed and signed application form to your Relationship Manager for approval and processing

Application for a Standby Letter of Credit/Guarantee

1. Select the "Apply for a Standby Letter of Credit / Guarantee" link below
2. Thoroughly read the Terms and Conditions – you may wish to print the page for your reference
3. Select "I Accept" to proceed to the application form
4. Complete the application form by checking the appropriate box(es) and inputting all required information
5. Print and sign the application form
6. Submit the completed and signed application form to your Relationship Manager for approval and processing
