This new type of registered plan is designed to help you save for your first home, tax-free. Qualifying contributions are tax deductible and withdrawals to purchase a qualifying home are non-taxable. To open an FHSA, you’ll need to be a Canadian resident with a SIN or temporary SIN, have reached the age of majority in your province or territory and be an eligible first-time homebuyer.
