Pay with a touch using your CIBC card with Apple Pay

1. An eligible CIBC credit, debit card or prepaid card:
   • Any CIBC credit card. Corporate Classic and Corporate Classic Plus cards cannot be added via the mobile banking app
     
   • CIBC Smart Prepaid Visa or Prepaid Travel Visa card
   • CIBC Advantage Debit Card^®
2. A compatible Apple device: 
   • iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE or later
   • iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, or iPad mini 3 or later
   • Apple Watch paired with iPhone 5 or later

3. iOS 9 or later
4. Touch ID or passcode enabled on your compatible Apple device. For Apple Watch, you need a passcode and Wrist Detection turned on
   
5. An Apple ID signed in to iCloud^®

The CIBC Advantage Debit Card has both the Interac Debit and Visa Debit cards. When using your CIBC Advantage Debit Card to make a purchase with Apple Pay, you need to select the debit card that fits your situation:

• Select Interac Debit for Apple Pay purchases made in-store in Canada at participating merchants who accept Interac Flash®.
• Select Visa Debit for Apple Pay purchases made in-store outside of Canada, and within apps and websites in Safari, everywhere Visa Debit is accepted.

The Interac Debit card and the Visa Debit card appear as 2 separate cards in Wallet, so you can easily pick the appropriate option when you are paying.

You can only add the Visa Debit card to Apple Pay through the CIBC Mobile Banking App. To add this card:

1. Sign on the CIBC Mobile Banking App.
2. Select the menu
   
3. Select “Settings.”
   
4. Select “Set up Apple Pay.”
   
5. Select “Add to Apple Wallet” for the Visa Debit card which appears in your CIBC Advantage Debit Card.
   

The first card added to Apple Pay will automatically be set as your default card and will be selected to pay for your Apple Pay purchases unless you manually change the card. Setting a card as a default does not prevent you from using a different card when you make a purchase with Apple Pay.

To manually set your CIBC card as the default in Apple Pay:

• Open Wallet, press and hold the desired CIBC card and drag it to the front, or
  
• Select “Settings” then select “Wallet & Apple Pay.” Under Transaction Defaults, select “Default Card” and choose your CIBC card.
  

Note: The CIBC Advantage Debit Card has both the Interac Debit and Visa Debit cards. These debit cards will appear as two separate cards and you’ll add them separately to Wallet.

Yes. You can use Apple Pay at participating retailers around the world with your eligible CIBC credit card, CIBC Advantage Debit Card, or any Smart Prepaid Visa card.

• Use CIBC credit cards or Smart Prepaid Visa cards for Apple Pay purchases made in Canada and around the world at participating merchants who accept contactless payment.
  
• Use the CIBC Advantage Debit Card for Apple Pay purchases made in Canada and around the world by selecting:
  • Interac Debit for Apple Pay purchases made in-store in Canada at participating merchants who accept Interac Flash.
    
  • Visa Debit for Apple Pay purchases made in-store outside of Canada, and within apps and websites in Safari, everywhere Visa Debit is accepted.
