How can I make sure I'll get my money back?
Follow a few simple guidelines and we’ll help you recover anything you’ve lost.
What to do
- Select a password that is hard to guess. If your account uses security questions, make sure the answers are hard to guess as well
- Set a password on any device you use for banking, like your phone, computer or tablet
- Review your bank statements often, and let us know right away if there’s a mistake
- Help us with any investigation into improper access to your accounts
What not to do
- Don’t keep copies of your passwords stored on any device you use for CIBC Online Banking or CIBC Mobile Banking
- Don’t share your passwords (or security question answers, if your account uses them) with anyone
- Don’t use Online Banking on any computer that isn’t running up-to-date anti-virus/anti-spyware software and a firewall
For more information, read our Electronic Access Agreement and other agreements for your accounts, products and services. The guarantee is governed by the terms of these agreements.
