  1. If you are opening a new RSP:
    • You request that CIBC apply for registration of your plan as a Registered Retirement Savings Plan under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and applicable income tax legislation in your province/territory of residence as indicated in this application. You understand that most amounts withdrawn from the plan will be taxable.
  2. If opening a new RSP or making a contribution to an existing RSP:
    • You authorize CIBC to withdraw the amount(s) that you have indicated from the CIBC deposit account you have indicated and to contribute the amount(s) to your new RSP or your existing RSP, all as set out in your application.
    • If you are purchasing an RSP GIC, you are presently located in Canada.

  1. Purposes: CIBC may handle your personal information to:
    • Identify you and confirm your eligibility for products, including registered plans
    • Obey the law

    • Market and send you offers, including customized marketing and offers based on your account and transaction information

    • Improve products and services
    • Enforce our rights (such as collecting a debt)
