Commercial Banking Associate Program (CBAP)

Candidates will join CIBC’s commercial banking team and be provided with the knowledge, resources and skills to become a world-class commercial banker and strategic partner to Canada’s leading independent and mid-market companies. You will provide support to relationship teams through relationship and portfolio management, credit management processes as well as transactional support for client-specific financing solutions. This is a development role, providing an opportunity to enable and equip the candidate to eventually progress to the Relationship Manager role.
Program details
Onboarding — Orientation activities and online courses
- Introduction to CIBC commercial banking and many of the critical tools and business processes
Month 1 to 3 — Introductory skills
- Foundational credit structuring
- Risk assessment
- Cash management and strategy, product and sales
- Products and partners from across the bank
Month 4 — In-person training week
- Build internal and external relationships
- Intermediate credit and risk management meeting the needs of more complex businesses
Month 5 to 8 — Advanced skills
- Specialized partner groups
- Case presentation
- Relationship management and negotiation
- Business development and networking
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be supported to secure a full-time permanent role in The Commercial Bank.
