Interac document verification service helps verify your identity using your government-issued photo ID and facial biometrics. The service helps you access online services that require proof of identity without having to visit a banking centre.

When verifying yourself online using Interac document verification service, you’ll be prompted to take a photo of your government-issued photo ID document and a selfie to confirm your proof of identity.

Supported documents include: 

• Canadian driver’s licence
• Passports (Canadian-issued and select foreign passports)
• Provincial photo IDs 
• U.S. driver’s licence 

Other government documents aren’t supported at this time. Please visit your CIBC Banking Center to be verified using other government documents.

There are a few reasons that we may not be able to verify your identity online, including but not limited to:

• Lower quality images
• Missing images
• Unsupported documents
• Expired documents, or
