The CIBC Foundation and The Walrus are proud to announce that Makda Mulatu has been selected as the second CIBC Digital Fellow for Emerging Black Journalists — congratulations Makda!
The Walrus Black Digital Fellowship was created in 2022 with support from the CIBC Foundation. The year-long paid fellowship is a digitally focused position at The Walrus given to a Black journalist who is early in their career. The Fellowship aims to equip and enable recipients, like Makda, to produce and share stories across numerous digital platforms and channels, and ultimately set her up for a successful career in the media sector.
“I am so thrilled to have been selected as the 2023 CIBC Digital Journalism Fellow! I look forward to expanding the scope of my storytelling capabilities, deepening my digital production knowledge and growing as a journalist under the expert mentorship of the team at The Walrus,” says Makda.
