CIBC eAdvantage® Savings Account — High Interest Savings

Smart Interest is an interest feature available on the CIBC eAdvantage^® Savings Account ("eSA") as of February 1, 2022. You'll earn Smart Interest when you save $200 or more in a month across all your eSAs with the same accountholders. Smart Interest will be paid on top of your Regular Interest rate or Special Interest Rate Offer (if eligible) as a reward to help you build healthy savings habits.

You'll earn Smart Interest if your account balance on the last business day of the month is $200 or more than your balance on the last business day of the previous month (not including interest earned or CIBC fees). This is called the “Smart Balance Growth.”

Monthly qualification is based on saving $200 or more than the previous month across all of your CIBC eAdvantage Savings Accounts with the same accountholders. You can earn Smart Interest on balances up to $200,000. Full limitations are set out in the Terms and Conditions.

Tip: Try to avoid scheduling automatic transfers on the last day of the month. These transfers will fall on the "next business day" so they will not count towards your Smart Interest balance growth for the current month.

Yes. You can earn Smart Interest on your account balances up to $200,000. This is called the "Smart Balance Maximum." If you have multiple CIBC eAdvantage Savings Accounts, the Smart Balance Maximum will apply across all your accounts with the same accountholders.

Smart Interest is calculated daily at the current Smart Interest rate on your full closing balance each day up to a maximum balance of $200,000. Smart Interest will be paid between the first 5 to 7 business days of the following month. That means if you qualify for Smart Interest, you will earn the current Smart Interest rate on your entire account balance (up to $200,000) for the whole month.

If you have multiple CIBC eAdvantage Savings Accounts with the same accountholders, the $200,000 limit applies across all of those accounts.

Any money you put in or take out of the account counts towards your balance growth. We won’t count any interest payments or CIBC fees when calculating balance growth.

Deposits will help you get you closer to receiving Smart Interest, but withdrawals, purchases and bill payments will be subtracted from your balance. Be sure to save at least $200 across your CIBC eAdvantage Savings Accounts with the same accountholders to earn Smart Interest on balances up to $200,000.

Example: Sarah deposited $250 in her account and made a CIBC ATM withdrawal of $50 within the same month. Sarah was charged a $5 transaction fee for the withdrawal. Her account balance at the end of the month was $195. Sarah's monthly balance growth is $200, as the $5 transaction fee is not counted when determining her balance growth. Sarah will earn Smart Interest on her account balance this month.

We'll deposit Smart Interest into your CIBC eAdvantage Savings Account between the first 5 to 7 business days of the following month. This transaction will appear as “Smart Interest” on your statement.

If you have multiple accounts with the same accountholders, you will need to save $200 or more a month across all of your accounts to qualify for Smart Interest. Smart Interest will be earned on your total balances across these accounts, up to $200,000 (the "Smart Balance Maximum").

If you have multiple accounts with different accountholders (for example, an account you own individually and a joint account you own with another person), Smart Interest will be calculated separately. This means you will need to save $200 or more each month in each account. The Smart Balance Maximum of $200,000 will apply to each account when calculating Smart Interest.

You'll earn Smart Interest up to the Smart Balance Maximum independently from and in addition to other offers.
