How to access your annual cash back gift certificate
You'll receive your gift certificate each year along with your January statement, as long as your account is in good standing as of December 31 of the previous year.ⓘ
When your January statement is issued, you can access your gift certificate through mobile or online banking, or on the last page of your statement.

Select your CIBC Costco Mastercard or CIBC Costco Business Mastercard credit card account
Select the “Open gift certificate” button to access all available unused gift certificates and use your unique barcode at any Canadian Costco warehouse
Optional: Select “Download certificate” if you prefer a paper copy or you wish to keep a copy for your records.
eStatements
If you receive eStatements, your gift certificate will be included on the last page of your January statement.
After signing on to mobile or online banking, select your CIBC Costco Mastercard or CIBC Costco Business Mastercard, then select “View eStatements” to access your gift certificate.
If you receive your statements by mail, you'll find a printed copy of your gift certificate on the last page of your January statement.

Present your gift certificate when you check out, so the barcode can be scanned for redemption.

Earning, receiving and redeeming your cash back certificate
You'll receive your gift certificate every January on your statement cycle date, with your paper statement or eStatement, depending on your statement preferences. To receive your gift certificate, your account must be open and in good standing as of December 31 of the previous year.ⓘ
You can also access your gift certificate through mobile or online banking once your January statement is issued.
Your cash back will reset on January 1 every year, so you can start earning for your next year’s gift certificate. Your gift certificate will include cash back rewards earned from January 1 to December 31.
Note that your reset cash back balance will appear in mobile and online banking in the beginning of January.
Each January, you can find your cash back balance for the current year in mobile or online banking.
Your previous year’s cash back will not be included in your cash back balance for the current year.

Sign on to mobile or online banking
Select your CIBC Costco Mastercard or CIBC Costco Business Mastercard credit card account
Check your current cash back, which will be listed beneath your current balance
You can redeem your gift certificate in person, using either a paper or digital copy, at a Canadian Costco warehouse provided you are the primary account holder. Please remember to bring your CIBC Costco Mastercard, CIBC Costco Business Mastercard or your Costco Membership card when redeeming your gift certificate.
Gift certificates don’t expire, and you can view all available unused gift certificates in the CIBC Mobile Banking App and CIBC Online Banking. You can also access your unused gift certificates on the last page of your paper or digital January credit card statement.
If you’re unable to see your previous unused gift certificates in mobile banking, you might need to update your CIBC Mobile Banking App. You can do this by finding the CIBC Mobile Banking App in your app store, such as the Apple App Store or Google Play, and manually starting the update.

If you're the Primary Cardholder of both credit cards, you'll be eligible to receive one cash back gift certificate for each credit card account. You'll receive your gift certificates in the January statement of each account, in accordance with the Cash Back Rewards Program Terms and Conditions. Your account must be open and in good standing on December 31 in order to receive the gift certificate the following January. Each gift certificate will show the last 4 digits of the relevant credit card account for reference.
Each CIBC Costco Mastercard will have its own cash back balance and the Primary Cardholder of each credit card account will be eligible to receive a separate cash back gift certificate for each account.

No. The Costco Executive reward program is exclusively for Costco Executive Members. Your gift certificate rewards are calculated separately.
Exceptions to receiving your cash back gift certificate
If you were eligible for a gift certificate as of December 31 and changed your CIBC Costco Mastercard to a different CIBC credit card, switched to a different billing cycle, or if your card was lost or stolen between December 31 and your January statement date, you may receive your gift certificate by mail in early February, separate from your statement.
No, your gift certificate only includes cash back for the transactions that were posted as of December 31. Any transactions that were pending close to or on December 31 will be included in your cash back for the next calendar year after the transaction is posted.
Your account must be open and in good standing, which means that it’s not past due, over the credit limit, or suspended and you must have an active Costco membership to be eligible for a cash back gift certificate. Eligibility is determined based on the status of your account and membership on December 31 each year.
If your account was not in good standing on December 31, we won’t be able to issue a gift certificate to you in January and all accumulated cash back will be forfeited for that year.
If you switched your CIBC Costco Mastercard to a different CIBC credit card on or before December 31, you will forfeit the accumulated cash back for that year and you will not receive a gift certificate.
If you switched after December 31, you’ll still receive the gift certificate for the previous calendar year as long as your account was in good standing as of December 31.
No, you will not receive a gift certificate if your account was closed on or prior to December 31. Any cash back you earned will be forfeited.
If your Costco membership has expired or been cancelled, but your credit card is still open and in good standing as of December 31, you will receive your gift certificate. However, in order to redeem your gift certificate you will need to renew your membership with Costco.
