How to lock or unlock your credit card
Feel secure when you lock your card
If you’ve temporarily misplaced your CIBC credit card, you can easily lock it through CIBC Online Banking while you search for it. Follow the steps in this demonstration to protect your card from any unauthorized use.
Keep in mind that locking your card will temporarily prevent new transactions from going through while you try to find it, including select pre-authorized transactions. This will not affect any supplementary card(s) you may have on your account.
If you believe your card is permanently lost, report the loss immediately by following the steps in our demo on how to replace a lost or stolen card.
If you notice any unauthorized transactions on your account, you can dispute these charges through CIBC Mobile Banking® App or CIBC Online Banking. This will also cancel your card and issue you a new one. If you cannot complete your request online you can contact us, from Canada or the U.S., call 1-800-663-4575 Opens your phone app.. What can you still do with a locked card?
