How to manage your accounts

Change your personal information

You can update your contact information, change your address, password, and more in your profile.

What you do

  • Sign on to CIBC Online Banking or the CIBC Mobile Banking® App.

Mobile Banking App
  1. Select the settings icon in “My Profile.”
  2. Choose the information you want to update. You can update your email address, email format, phone number and password.

Online Banking
  1. Select “Customer Services” from the menu.
  2. Choose the information you want to update. You can change your contact information, address, password, account nickname.

Changes will take effect right away. 

Direct deposit

Fill out the Account Information for Payroll, Direct Deposit or Pre-Authorized Payment form (PDF, 180 KB) Opens in a new window.Then send it to the company depositing the payment.

Pre-authorized payments options

However you choose to pay, the money is automatically debited from your CIBC bank account.

Pay recurring bills like phone and utilities, or for services. Just add your debit card details in the credit card billing section wherever Visa is accepted.

If Visa is not accepted, complete the Account Information for Payroll, Direct Deposit or Pre-Authorized Payment form (PDF, 180 KB) Opens in a new window.. Then send it to your service provider.

Simply sign on to CIBC Online Banking® and follow these steps.

  1. Select the account you want to set up for your direct deposit or pre-authorized payment.
  2. Select Account Details. Your Deposit Account Details page opens. 
  3. Select “Manage my account.” From the dropdown menu, select “Void cheque/direct deposit info.” Your prefilled Account Information form opens.
  4. Print or save the form. Add your signature and the date. Then send it to the company depositing the payment to your account or to the billing company.

You can order cheques for your account in just a few clicks1

What you do

  1. Sign on to CIBC Online Banking® and select “Customer Services” from the menu
    Select “Order Cheques.”
  2. Make sure your personal information, transit number and account number are up-to-date
    Then, select “Next.”
  3. If there’s a fee, we’ll debit the cost of the cheques from your account.
  4. Receive your cheques within 10 business days.

Stop payments

Need to cancel that cheque you wrote, or put a stop to your pre-authorized debit?2

What you do

  1. Sign on to Online Banking and select “Customer Services” from the menu
    Select “Stop Payments”.  
  2. Read and accept the Terms and conditions 
  3. Choose which payment to stop
    Select “Stop a Payment on a Cheque” or “Stop a Pre-Authorized Debit”.
  4. Enter the details for the cheque or pre-authorized payment and select the account from which the payment is being made  
  5. Choose an account from which you’d like to pay the service fee
    Select “Next”.
  6. Verify the information, then select “Stop Payment”

Make TFSA contributions and withdrawals

You can add funds to or withdraw from your Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) anytime.3

What you do

  1. Sign on to Online Banking and select "Customer Services" from the menu
    Under “Account Services”, select “Contribute to a TFSA Account” or “Withdraw from a TFSA Account”.
  2. Enter your contribution details
    Select which account you’d like to contribute to or withdraw from, the amount and the date of transfer. You can even set up automatic contributions to help keep your savings goals on track.

Check to be sure you don't exceed your annual contribution limit.
